Grandview Host Stand — ADA Pull-Out Tray (Restaurant Hostess Stand)

A commercial host stand, hostess stand or host podium, built in the same stained red oak as our Grandview booths, so the entry matches the dining room behind it.

Dimensions. 46½" wide, 23½" deep and 42" to the guest-facing top: standing height, for greeting guests and taking a card across it. The work surface behind it sits at 34", where two-handed work is comfortable, over drawers and open shelving.

ADA transaction tray. A tray on full-extension slides pulls out from under the work surface and lands at 36 inches or below, the maximum the ADA allows for a sales and service counter, over at least 36 inches of length (2010 Standards, §904.4.1). The stand stays at 42 inches for most guests, and a guest in a wheelchair, or anyone who needs a lower counter, is served at the tray on the same footing as everyone else, without a separate lowered section taking up floor space. Pushed back in, the tray disappears under the work surface.

Construction. Real wood veneer plywood and laminate, with interior storage, in the stain shown.
